What are you going to do

We are partnering with our client in the Oil and Gas sector to recruit an experienced Lifting Supervisor to join our client's team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on a contract basis. This role will oversee lifting operations across construction and industrial projects, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lifting operations in accordance with approved lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and site procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, UAE regulations, client standards, and applicable lifting standards.
  • Coordinate with the Appointed Person, HSE, Crane Operators, Riggers, and Banksmen/Signalmen for safe lifting execution.
  • Verify crane setup, ground conditions, lifting radius, load capacity, boom configuration, outriggers, and exclusion zones before lifting.
  • Ensure cranes, lifting equipment, rigging accessories, and lifting gear are inspected, certified, and fit for use.
  • Supervise rigging, slinging, signaling, and load handling to ensure safe lifting practices.
  • Conduct pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks covering lifting plans, hazards, controls, and communication procedures.
  • Monitor lifting activities and stop work immediately when unsafe conditions, equipment defects, adverse weather, or plan deviations occur.
  • Ensure all lifting personnel are competent, trained, certified, and authorized for their duties.
  • Inspect lifting areas for overhead obstructions, underground services, pipelines, live plant, excavations, and access restrictions.
  • Maintain lifting exclusion zones and prevent unauthorized access beneath or near suspended loads.
  • Supervise lifting of heavy equipment, piping, vessels, structural components, modules, and oil & gas plant materials.
  • Maintain required lifting records, inspection certificates, permits, checklists, and documentation.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Diploma or relevant technical qualification in Mechanical, Civil, Construction, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of lifting supervision experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, relevant experience as a Lifting Supervisor. Experience in lifting operations within construction / industrial projects preferred. ADNOC / UAE / GCC experience.
  • Candidates must have complete and verifiable educational, professional and experience documentation. Educational qualifications must be obtained through a recognized institution and regular course. Correspondence / Non-regular Diplomas or Degrees should not be submitted.
  • EPC, or heavy industrial sector.
  • Proven experience supervising mobile cranes, crawler cranes, heavy lifting, rigging, and equipment installation activities.
  • Strong knowledge of lifting plans, rigging arrangements, load calculations, crane capacities, load charts, and lifting accessories.
