Introduction

Brunel Australasia is partnering with a leading energy company to source an experienced Lead Planner to join their team working in Brisbane.

What are you going to do

The Lead Planner ensures the integration of our client's projects into the Business Unit’s Integrated Activity Plan and Schedule. This role includes supporting various planning initiatives across the portfolio and providing direct planning support to the Brownfield Projects Project Manager, who manages projects such as refinery return to service, security enhancements, and abandonment works.

Responsibilities – To include but are not limited too:

  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain portfolio performance reports.
  • Track plan performance against targets to enhance decision-making.
  • Implement required planning practices and processes across the BU.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training to project planners.
  • Identify and address planning and scheduling skills gaps.
  • Review and assess plans from operators of Non-Operated Major Capital projects.
  • Develop and manage master project schedules, including Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Maintain schedule versions for effective change management and reporting.
  • Lead cross-functional planning sessions to ensure full schedule integration.
  • Identify and manage schedule risks, including critical path changes.
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis to identify optimal project strategies.
  • Implement schedule reporting and maintain schedule documentation.
  • Oversee contractors’ planning and scheduling performance.
  • Support project management with schedule presentations to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with planning and scheduling policies and industry best practices.Support third-party analysis and benchmarking activities.
  • Collaborate with cost controllers on expenditure forecasting.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, or related field.
  • Desirable certifications in planning/project controls/management.
  • Expertise in Oracle Primavera P6, SAP, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Extensive experience in project planning within the upstream oil and gas industry across all phases of a project (front end/pre feed through to execution).
  • Experience with EPC contracts and brownfield operational environments.
  • Global experience, especially in developing countries and / or remote locations is desirable.
  • Proven experience in project planning within the engineering and construction industry, with a strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Must be located in Brisbane and hold full working rights in Australia at time of application.
