Introduction

Position provides the leadership for the overall offshore brownfield construction execution for the COMP8a (EPC8a) scope for Compression Project, guided by the following principles:

  • “One Team” project organization accountable and responsible for effective and efficient delivery of the various scopes in Compression Phase I (related to Compression Complexes, CP6S and CP7S and the associated FG Pipelines, Subsea Optic Cables, and Onshore Facilities scope)
  • While position may report to the Compression Project COMP8a (EPC8a) Head of Brownfield Construction, position is accountable and responsible to interface with various other executing EPC teams (COMP1, COMP2, COMP3a and COMP3b ) for safe and successful execution of respective brownfield scopes to meet EPC and overall project objectives
  • As part of the COMP8a BF construction management team, led by the Head of BF Construction, directly involved with the development of BF construction plans and offshore execution of the plans by discharging COMP8a offshore BF construction scope responsibilities and duties safely, efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure there is quality, effectiveness and consistency in the BF construction processes, systems, procedures, and work products – while adhering to established Operations systems, processes and procedures (e.g., SIMOPS, Work Management System, PTW, etc.)
  • Must be able to manage the respective priorities, drivers and challenges of the stakeholders while maintaining focus on their respective objectives
  • Ensure that there is sufficient and balanced resources and technical expertise available to support the stakeholders
  • Ensure there is efficiency in resource deployment to support the stakeholders’ activities
  • Manage multiple internal and external interfaces across and Shareholder organizations and EPC Contractors - require effective communication, initiative, flexibility, and collaboration
  • As needed, may be assigned relief for the Lead of Onshore BF Construction/Fabrication

What are you going to do

Position Accountabilities and Functions include:

Offshore Brownfield Construction

  • Manages and ensures successful execution of Offshore Brownfield project components to meet prioritized objectives (Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and others, as appropriate)
  • Defines project deliverables / timing needed and implements Project Strategies to achieve Brownfield project and shutdown objectives
  • Provide offshore BF construction technical and execution expertise to support the development of the project execution schedules, scope of work, constructability and installability methods and strategies
  • Develop offshore logistics methods, strategies and plans for the BF execution plans – including offshore accommodation and POB management, and marine operations (e.g., Jack-Up Barges, DP Accommodation Vessels, Supply Vessels) strategies
  • Monitors and reports progress of various execution planning activities against agreed schedule.
  • Monitors and appraises Contractor(s)' organization, planning, execution, and controls, and drives improvement plans to close gaps in performance.
  • Identifies project issues and executes/stewards appropriate actions to resolution.
  • Coordinates and participates in project reviews and workshops (IPRs, CERs and Execution Challenges).
  • Manages readiness reviews and approvals to proceed for major offshore activities including site mobilization (e.g., JUB mobilization and set up), pre-shutdown, shutdown, and re-starts
  • Engages in the development of the Project Plan, SHE Plan and Shutdown Plans
  • Support and manages the EPC Procurement Strategies
  • Drive construction execution planning, including incorporation of work packaging principles.
  • Drive and communicate project priorities and strategies to all pre-fabrication yard teams for Brownfield and tie-in scopes
  • Generally, serves as the primary contact Brownfield onshore fabrication and execution and issues resolution regarding the site's scope of work
  • Drive and lead CWA, CWP development, strategies, workpack preparation, reviews and approvals
  • Ensure that proper project controls are implemented and functioning well; take timely corrective action and follow through to completion.
  • Ensure interfaces (engineering, other construction / fabrication sites, commissioning / startup, operations, etc.) are properly managed for Brownfield and tie-in scope
  • Actively engage with Operations, Marine and Logistics organizations to solicit input, provide feedback and seek alignment with BF construction execution plans as needed
  • Knowledge-expertise of operations and marine practices and procedures related to BF construction (e.g., Work Management System (WMS), Permit-to-Work (PTW), SIMOPS, Marine Operations Manual, Shutdown Management System (SDMS)

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Preferred Engineering Degree or relevant on the job experience
  • Extensive offshore BF construction experience in a leadership and supervisory role
  • Required to have offshore survival certificate and be able to pass an offshore medical evaluation.
  • OPITO certification is considered a plus.
  • Need to be able to travel and be based offshore
  • Recommended 12+ years of experience with at least 10 years demonstrated experience including engineering, fabrication, construction and installation in major capital projects – especially in BF scopes
  • Experience managing multiple contractors, sub-contractors and vendors involved in project execution
  • Worldwide experience with contractors in particular those involved in the Offshore projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on teamwork and the ability to communicate and interact within a PMT
  • Application and in-depth knowledge of stakeholder specifications and a working knowledge of Industry standards
  • A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office applications and some technical applications
  • Ability to work on or be based on a platform or vessel
