Position Overview

Seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of experience supporting pipeline operations and small capital projects. This position is approximately 70% focused on Instrumentation & Controls and 30% Electrical Engineering, with roughly 50% of time spent in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform PLC programming, HMI enhancements, valve automation modifications, and control logic updates.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment.
  • Provide engineering support for operations, maintenance activities, and small capital projects.
  • Review engineering documentation, including P&IDs, instrumentation drawings, electrical drawings, and contractor deliverables.
  • Work closely with operations personnel, contractors, and project teams to support project execution and facility reliability.
  • Participate in field inspections, site assessments, and engineering review activities.

Additional Role Details

  • Support existing pipeline facilities and operational infrastructure.
  • Primary focus includes HMI modernization, PLC programming, valve automation initiatives, and control system software upgrades.
  • Electrical responsibilities include support for pumps, motors, generators, backup power systems, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Allen-Bradley experience is preferred; candidates with strong PLC and automation fundamentals will be considered.
  • Regular interaction with operations personnel, electrical technicians, maintenance teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Participation in an on-call support rotation is expected, although after-hours callouts are uncommon.
  • Travel is primarily local within the surrounding service area.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in field environments and partnering directly with operations teams.

Preferred Technology Experience

  • Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI systems.
  • RSLogix, FactoryTalk, and Ladder Logic programming.
  • GE Multilin protective relays.
  • Flow-X and OMNI flow computer systems.
