Introduction

In this critical energization and plant startup role, you will lead the pre-commissioning, functional testing, loop checking, and cold/hot commissioning of all field instrumentation, process automation systems, and control loops across major mineral processing infrastructure. You will be instrumental in ensuring a safe, flawless handover from construction to full operational readiness.

What are you going to do

  • Commissioning Leadership: Lead site-level pre-commissioning, cold/hot commissioning, loop testing, end-to-end signal validation, and functional logic checks for field instruments and control system interfaces.

  • Control Systems Integration: Supervise loop checks and integration tests between field devices (smart transmitters, control valves, flow meters, analytical instruments) and PLC, DCS, and SCADA networks.

  • Punch List & Defect Management: Identify, log, and systematically clear instrumentation punch-list items, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and logic/wiring discrepancies prior to plant startup.

  • Subcontractor & Crew Supervision: Direct and coordinate instrument technicians, vendor specialists, and commissioning teams to maintain strict execution quality and adhere to commissioning schedules.

  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous site safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit to Work (PTW) systems, hazardous area classifications (Ex/ATEX compliance), and ESDM mining regulations.

  • Handover & Documentation: Review, complete, and sign off on field calibration certificates, loop sheets, commissioning test packages, and turnover dossiers for operational sign-off.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Experience: Minimum 8+ years of specialized experience in instrumentation installation and commissioning within large-scale mining, mineral processing, oil & gas, or petrochemical facilities.

  • Certifications (Desirable):

    • Valid POP (Pengawas Operasional Pratama) certification from ESDM.

    • Hazardous Area Certifications (e.g., CompEx or equivalent Ex inspector certification).

  • Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of HART, Foundation Fieldbus, and Profibus protocols; control valve tuning; smart field transmitters; and DCS/PLC automation architecture (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, ABB, Schneider).
