Introduction

Brunel is partnering with a leading multinational ship fabrication company to recruit an experienced Structural Inspector for a project based in Batam, Indonesia.

Professionals with experience in shipbuilding, offshore fabrication, marine, EPC, or heavy industrial projects who are passionate about quality assurance and ensuring structural fabrication meets international standards and project specifications.

What are you going to do

  • Perform inspections throughout structural fabrication, assembly, fit-up, welding, and final acceptance activities.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, client requirements, approved drawings, and applicable international standards.
  • Inspect structural materials, dimensional accuracy, fit-up, welding, and alignment prior to final acceptance.
  • Witness inspections, NDT activities, and QA/QC processes to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Prepare inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, and quality documentation.
  • Coordinate with production, QA/QC teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Ensure all structural activities comply with HSE requirements and project quality standards.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Structural Inspector within shipbuilding, shipyard, offshore fabrication, EPC, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, fit-up, welding inspection, dimensional control, and quality assurance.
  • Familiar with international standards such as AWS, ISO, ASME, and relevant structural fabrication codes.
  • Relevant inspection certifications such as CSWIP 3.1, AWS CWI, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with NDT teams and reviewing fabrication and inspection documentation.
  • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
