Provides electrical engineering expertise consistent with Engineer level competency to ensure contribution to department objectives in meeting Company strategy.
Operates in technical environment with interface with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Required to contribute to other multi-disciplinary tasks whilst providing expertise in area of expertise.
What are you going to do
Provide general electrical engineering support to projects, operations and maintenance and contribute to the division strategy and goals.
Have basic understanding of electrical drawings, components as under:
Single Line Diagram and familiarization of symbols, legends used there (e.g., 132kV / 66kV / 33kV / 11kV / 6.6kV / 415V isolator / fuse / switch / circuit breaker, MCCB / MCB)
Basic schematic diagram of PDB/LDB/415V LV switchgear
Familiarization of components and their usage: transformer, relay, UPS, cables, motor, generator, capacitor
Fundamentals of protection relays and some basic protections like Overcurrent, Earth fault, Under voltage protection and their usage.
Fundamentals of power generation and control
Generator operation mode: Isochronous, Droop
Means to control generator active, reactive power.
Concept of load shedding.
Familiar with application of basic electrical theory and equations:
Active, reactive power of the system
Calculate power factor
Synchronous speed at particular frequency
Load factor, Utilization factor, Diversity factor
Familiarization of various standards and or recommendations
Aware of IEC standards of common electrical components e.g., Switchgear, Transformer, motors; Hazardous area electrical equipment
5. Familiarization of various hazards in O&G plants and safe work practices:
Basic idea about Hazardous area classification (zone classification and type of protections, e.g., Ex-d/e)
Electrical safe work practices, concept of zero energy demonstration etc.
Awareness of arc flash hazard
Provide necessary information to Project management team on current operation & maintenance practices.
Review Scope Deviation Request for preliminary assessment of concerns (risk, deviation from operation practices etc.).
Support and take part in FAT/SAT activities undertaken by Project team.
Essential skills and knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
4 years’ engineering experience in an oil and gas environment.
Fluent in English language (demonstrated verbal and written skills).
Computer literate and knowledgeable in relevant software tools and specifications.
Electrical Engineer-level of competence as per Electrical Engineering Technical Competencies.
