Introduction

We are seeking a dedicated Cost Engineer to join a major deep offshore oil and gas project starting September 2026 in Paris, France. During This 12-month (renewable) contract you will contribute to a technically challenging initiative with a CAPEX exceeding 10 billion USD, focused on optimising reserves, schedules, costs, and environmental performance.

What are you going to do

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will manage one or two main project packages (such as FPSO, SURF, SPS, PMT) and collaborate closely with the Lead Cost Engineer on broader cost activities. Responsibilities include maintaining phased forecast profiles based on Value of Work Done (VOWD), leading monthly review meetings, delivering contract-level accrual inputs, and developing comprehensive monthly cost reports with variance analysis. The role requires rigorous change control management using Cleopatra software and coordination with Contracts and Procurement to assess cost impacts of changes.

Additional duties involve ensuring accurate cost data mapping between SAP and Cleopatra, closing completed contracts and purchase orders, and providing ad hoc data analysis and presentations. The Cost Engineer will also contribute to re-baselining activities, maintain basis of estimate documentation, support long-term planning and monthly reporting, and assist with annual cost risk analysis to evaluate contingency requirements.

Interaction across multiple locations and teams, including engineering offices and yards, is expected to ensure smooth execution of cost control processes. Full familiarity with relevant procedures, workflows, and systems is essential to support continuous improvement of the cost engineering function.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in cost engineering within large-scale oil and gas projects, ideally offshore and deepwater environments
  • Strong knowledge of project control processes, cost forecasting, and budget monitoring techniques
  • Proficiency in cost control software such as Cleopatra and enterprise resource planning systems like SAP
  • Ability to manage multiple project packages and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with change control processes and cost impact assessments
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to produce detailed cost reports and variance analysis
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across international teams
  • Fluency in English; French language skills would be advantageous
  • Availability to work full-time on-site in Paris, France, starting September 2026 for a 12-month contract
