Introduction

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Specialist to join a tier one mining business supporting its Major Projects portfolio.

This Perth-based position will manage contract and procurement activities across major construction work packages, with responsibility for tender development, commercial negotiations, post-award contract administration and close-out.

What are you going to do

  • Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for construction works and services
  • Manage construction contracts from tendering through to completion and close-out
  • Negotiate commercial terms, conditions and pricing to support project schedules and budgets
  • Prepare clear, well-structured contract and procurement documentation
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks during the pre-contract stage
  • Work closely with engineering, legal, project controls, quality and logistics stakeholders
  • Administer contracts during execution, including correspondence and formal contract notices
  • Assess payment claims, variations and extension of time claims
  • Develop detailed pricing schedules, methods of measurement and rules of credit
  • Identify cost-saving and value improvement opportunities
  • Provide commercial reports and advice to support decision-making
  • Mentor and support junior members of the contracts and procurement team

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • At least five years of contract administration experience within mining, civil construction or major projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction contracts from tender through to close-out
  • Strong experience across SMP and/or EIC construction work packages
  • A detailed understanding of construction programs, payment claims, variations and extension of time claims
  • Strong commercial negotiation and contract documentation skills
  • The ability to manage multiple work packages and competing priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive, self-driven approach to progressing commercial outcomes
