Introduction

We are looking for a Construction Superintendent (E&I) who will provide Company representation in monitoring and coordinating the fabrication site activities of EPC Contractor and its sub-contractors for all electrical, control and instrument installations; managing the planning, preparation and execution of all aspects of the E&I Construction of the Topsides for the Project at the fabrication site. Effective issue resolution through interfacing with both Company and Contractor teams is an essential component of the role to ensure full alignment on the execution of the Project.

Successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the E&I construction work to ensure safely completed as per applicable HSE and quality standards; provide extensive knowledge and advice to the PMT in respect to safety, technical, integrity and operability aspects of the electrical & Instrumentation systems of the NFXP Offshore Topside facilities and supervise E&I contractors ensuring the delivery of the process and design is in accordance with company requirements, specifications and standards; works effectively within established and clearly defined policies and procedures, and participates in the further development of these to meet changing needs; works on large capital expenditure projects in a highly dynamic team environment that has tight-deadlines, high pressure and visibility, requiring accuracy, initiative and the ability to multi-task as essential skills.

What are you going to do

  • Review and monitor project electrical design, including Engineering / Site Queries, Field Design Changes, Deviation Requests, Non-Conformance Reports and EPC Contractor design change or deviations from company directives ensuring compliance with management of change procedures. Participate as required in incident /accident investigation and prevention of recurrence. Promotes safety awareness and safe performance among project team members, including consultants and contractor personnel.
  • Provide Company representation in monitoring and coordinating the site E&I activities of EPC Contractor, vendor and its sub-contractors for all electrical, control and instrument installations. Report on the construction and pre-commissioning activities, progress, areas of concern and mitigating actions. Prepare for and participate in construction related meetings.
  • Provide guidance and timely review on EPC Contractor’s electrical engineering designs and processes verifying fitness for purpose and compliance with contract requirements including codes and standards and ensure PMT or other technical support is available to address any gaps.
  • Coordinate EPC Contractor, vendor’s work activities, and interface coordination with the activities of Third Parties. Review of method statements, JSAs and other documents to ensure safe and proper construction and PMC by EPC Contractor. Ensure construction anx pre-commissioning works are carried out in accordance with COMPANY rules, regulations, standards and permit to work procedures as applicable.
  • Support Topsides Lead in delivery of the Engineering and Process design of electrical and control systems and coordinate the field installation of the EPC electrical systems, providing pre-commissioning, start-up and commissioning support as required.
  • Provide technical support and advice to project procurement and construction activities and support Topsides Lead in monitoring the EPC Contractor progress on delivery of the required documents in the electrical engineering discipline.
  • Promote inter-departmental communications and encourage teamwork through managing the electrical engineering interface between Engineering, Operations, and Startup Team.
  • Review work and inspection results to ensure compliance with EPC Contract requirements. Interface and coordinate with Project Field Engineering and QC Sections. Monitor and ensure the correction of non-conformance report items and other issues supporting QA/QC compliance. Monitor site material handling and preservation to facilitate construction progress and quality of materials.
  • Review the construction sequence/logic, work plan/procedures, pre-task planning and methods statement to ensure effective work execution and safety.
  • Report and record potential change order request to assist in claims avoidance.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Either in excess of 15 years Construction experience or an apprenticeship or diploma in a relevant discipline or degree in a relevant discipline plus experience in a similar role.
  • 15 years of major oil and gas offshore project experience in a fabrication or construction capacity
  • Strong organizational, management, and technical judgment skills
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
  • worldwide experience working with contractors and subcontractors, in particular those involved in the construction of Onshore oil, gas, chemical and/or petrochemical plant facilities.
  • Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office and technical applications.
  • Middle East (preferably Qatar) working experience is preferred.
  • Sets situations/issues in the context of the entire team and has an appreciation of the wider relationships with other people and organizations.
  • Works independently within established procedures, plans and budgets and contributes to the development of these.
  • Has autonomy over scheduling and planning of own work; organizes efforts of work group to achieve overall efficiency.
  • Establishes credibility with peers, subordinates and supervisors.
