Introduction

Reporting to the Director of Commissioning, the successful candidate will provide direct planning support to project teams and review the work of engineering, procurement, and construction contractor planners. The role will ensure commissioning activities are integrated into overall execution plans and aligned with project milestones, construction completion, and system and subsystem turnover strategies.

What are you going to do

  • Develop and maintain detailed commissioning schedules using cloud-based Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software.
  • Integrate commissioning sequences, system boundaries, turnover milestones, and readiness activities into overall project schedules.
  • Track progress against key performance indicators, critical paths, baseline schedules, and commissioning readiness milestones.
  • Perform float analysis, multiple float path analysis, delay analysis, and time impact analysis.
  • Monitor performance and progress against the baseline schedule and provide regular forecasts.
  • Conduct schedule risk assessments and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Review contractor commissioning schedules for logic quality, resource loading, sequencing, and feasibility.
  • Provide clear feedback and required corrections to contractor planners to support compliance with commissioning standards.
  • Validate contractor progress updates and support accurate reporting of commissioning progress.
  • Coordinate with construction planners to align system and subsystem handover and mechanical completion activities.
  • Support the development of commissioning and system completion plans.
  • Ensure inspection and test records, turnover packages, subsystem boundaries, and other commissioning deliverables align with schedule logic.
  • Work closely with commissioning managers, construction managers, discipline leads, operations teams, and start-up teams.
  • Facilitate weekly commissioning planning meetings across multiple projects.
  • Prepare dashboards, progress summaries, look-ahead schedules, and management-level reports.
  • Support the implementation of commissioning planning procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Contribute to lessons-learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain schedule governance guidelines to promote consistency across contractors and internal teams.
  • Lead and implement solutions to complex planning and scheduling issues with limited supervision.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field, with 15 years of related industrial project planning experience; or a high school diploma or GED with
  • 10 years of industrial project planning experience.
  • Extensive experience in heavy industrial construction, commissioning, start-up planning, and scheduling.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy industrial construction and commissioning principles and practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with cloud-based Primavera P6 scheduling software; experience with Microsoft Project or similar tools is also valuable.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, review, and challenge complex commissioning schedules across multiple projects.
  • Experience with baseline management, forecasting, schedule risk assessment, critical path analysis, delay analysis, and time impact analysis.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to actively listen, adapt communication to the audience, and train or guide others.
  • Ability to build trust, establish common goals, and work effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites globally, as required.
