Agriculture Engineer

Introduction
Implementing and caring for landscapes along roadways and public areas. You will work collaboratively with our team to ensure the health and beauty of these outdoor spaces, making a positive impact on the environment and the community.
This role has to provide expert advice and guidance to the Department in relation to maintenance and upkeep of the plants and trees along the highways of Qatar.
What are you going to do
Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance tasks, including pruning, trimming, weeding, and mulching, to keep landscapes in top condition.
Environmental Sustainability: Promote and implement sustainable horticultural practices, such as composting, water conservation, and the use of native plants, to minimize environmental impact.
Pest and Disease Control: Implement eco-friendly pest and disease control measures to maintain landscape health without harming the environment.
Soil Analysis and Improvement: Conduct soil tests and implement soil improvement strategies to optimize plant growth and health.
Irrigation Systems: Manage irrigation systems efficiently to ensure proper hydration of landscapes and reduce water wastage.
Plant Selection and Care: Choose appropriate plant species, trees, and shrubs that thrive in roadside environments, considering factors such as climate, soil conditions, and local regulations.
Team Collaboration: Lead and work alongside a team of landscapers and horticultural technicians, delegating tasks and ensuring project timelines are met.
Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with city planners and environmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines for public landscaping projects.
Essential skills and knowledgeÂ
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture engineering or Horticulture or higher-level qualification in a relevant subject.
Education qualification obtained from North America, West Europe, Australia
Proven experience in landscape design and horticulture, with a focus on public spaces.
Strong knowledge of plant selection, soil management, irrigation, and pest control.
Familiarity with landscape design software and tools.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Commitment to environmentally responsible horticultural practices.
Project management experience is an added advantage.
Relevant certifications in horticulture and landscape design are preferred.
A minimum of 10 years’ related experience,
A post-graduate degree related to horticulture and/or landscape management would be considered an asset.
Middle East experience is advantage.
Knowledge or experience of desert plants is preferred.
Construction inspection experience related to landscape.
Strong client management experience.
Previous experience as a Project Manager, having led teams and mid management experience
Well-developed written communication skills in the preparation of technical reports, correspondence and proposals are also important.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft suite of applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
