Introduction

Brunel International is seeking a skilled SMP QA/QC Supervisor to join our team for the construction of a process plant at a mine site in Papua New Guinea (PNG). This is an exciting opportunity to work on a challenging and rewarding project in a remote location. The role is offered on a FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) basis with a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

What are you going to do 

As the SMP QA/QC Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality assurance and quality control processes during the construction of the process plant. You will work closely with the project management team and subcontractors to maintain compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help drive the successful delivery of the project while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety on site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and maintaining the SMP QA/QC plan for the process plant construction
  • Conducting inspections, audits, and quality checks on materials, workmanship, and documentation
  • Coordinating with site engineers, contractors, and suppliers to resolve quality issues
  • Reporting non-conformances and managing corrective actions
  • Ensuring compliance with site safety and environmental policies
  • Maintaining accurate records and preparing quality reports for management review

Essential skills and knowledge 

List of Requirements

  • Proven experience as a QA/QC Supervisor in the construction of process plants, preferably within mining or industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of SMP (Standard Methods and Procedures) and quality assurance systems
  • Experience working on remote mine sites, ideally within PNG or similar environments
  • Ability to work FIFO with a 12-month roster and adapt to challenging site conditions
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, quality management, or related disciplines
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Current safety certifications and willingness to comply with site-specific safety requirements
