Introduction

What are you going to do 

You will lead the estimating process for major competitive and negotiated tenders, taking projects from initial enquiry through to submission while collaborating with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality, commercially competitive tenders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead competitive and negotiated tenders for commercial and Department of Education projects valued from $20M upwards.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 2 Estimators, providing guidance throughout the tender process
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, BOQs and competitive pricing submissions
  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation
  • Coordinate subcontractor pricing, procurement and tender packages
  • Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with senior management, consultants and subcontractors throughout the tender process
  • Contribute to a high-performing estimating team with an approximate 30% tender win rate

Essential skills and knowledge 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on complex bids, has established relationships within the Queensland construction market, and has a proven track record of winning government work.

Must have:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator with an Australian commercial head contractor
  • Proven experience pricing commercial construction projects valued above $20M
  • Extensive Department of Education tendering experience within Queensland
  • Strong understanding of Queensland Government procurement processes and tender requirements
  • Demonstrated success delivering competitive government tenders
  • Excellent commercial acumen and cost planning ability
  • Strong subcontractor and supplier network within Queensland
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under tender deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
