Introduction

We are partnering with a leading global mining organisation to source an experienced Contracts Specialist to join their high-performing Water category team, supporting a portfolio of sustaining capital construction projects across Western Australia.

What are you going to do 

You will play a key role in end-to-end contract management across critical water infrastructure works, operating under a structured Master Construction Agreement (MCA) framework and supporting projects from sourcing and tendering through to live contract management, claims, and dispute resolution.

About the Role

Working within a collaborative procurement and delivery environment, you will be responsible for:

  • End-to-end contract and procurement activities for sustaining capital construction projects within the Water portfolio
  • Supporting complex projects by providing trusted commercial and contractual advice to project delivery teams
  • Leading sourcing and tendering activities, including program development under a Master Construction Agreement
  • Preparing recommendations to award (RTA's) based on detailed commercial and schedule analysis
  • Drafting, negotiating and conforming Statements of Work and special contractual conditions
  • Managing live contracts including compliance, variations, claims assessments and dispute resolution
  • Identifying and escalating material commercial or legal risks where required
  • Building strong, partnership-style relationships with contractors to drive quality outcomes and fair risk allocation
  • Working within strict governance and compliance frameworks while influencing positive commercial behaviours
  • Managing a pipeline of business-critical projects and supplier relationships
  • Contributing to a psychologically safe, values-driven team culture

Essential skills and knowledge 

You are an experienced contracts or procurement professional with strong exposure to construction project environments, ideally within large-scale mining, resources, infrastructure, or hydrocarbon projects.

You will bring:

  • 5+ years' experience in contracts/procurement roles supporting complex construction projects is highly desirable
  • Strong experience in contract formation, tendering, negotiation, and post-award contract management
  • Demonstrated capability in drafting contractual documents, special conditions and managing departures
  • Experience assessing claims, managing disputes, and interpreting construction schedules and scopes
  • A Quantity Surveying background or strong construction commercial experience will be highly advantageous
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence, educate and work closely with delivery teams and contractors
  • Strong commercial acumen with an eye for risk, governance and value creation
  • Experience working within structured contract frameworks such as panel agreements or MCA-style arrangements (advantageous)
  • A collaborative, resilient approach and the ability to operate autonomously while managing competing priorities
