Brunel has an exciting long-term contract job opportunity for a Commissioning Area Manager supporting our client who is a leading global mining and metals company.

This contract position will work on-site in Bagdad, Arizona, the working week is Monday through Friday, on a 4-week on-site/1-week at home not working rotational schedule. Travel accommodations, transportation, and a monthly stipend will be included.

What are you going to do 

The Commissioning Area Manager is responsible for managing all commissioning activities within a defined plant area or system scope. This role ensures safe, efficient, and timely execution of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities across multiple disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Process).

The Area Manager acts as the focal point for coordination between construction, commissioning, vendors, and operations, ensuring systems are successfully handed over in line with project schedule, safety, and quality requirements.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline) (or equivalent 5 years of field experience)

Experience

  • Minimum 12-18 years of experience in EPC or industrial projects
  • At least 5-8 years in commissioning leadership or area management roles
  • Proven experience in complex plant commissioning and start-up
  • Experience in sectors such as mining, oil & gas, power, or smelting

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management capability
  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure during critical commissioning phases.
