Brunel Australasia has partnered with one of the world's leading testing, inspection and certification companies to find an experienced Well Site Chemist to join their team.

What are you going to do 

In this role you will conduct laboratory analysis and field sampling at the Wellsite Laboratory for the well services operations. The role will also encompass maintaining equipment, perform sampling, conduct analysis for production monitoring, develop and improve sampling/analysis procedure.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform wellsite sampling according to approved standards and SOP's.
  • Sample collection
  • Hg analysis
  • NG composition (GC)
  • Glycol Testing
  • Carbon Capture related analysis
  • Conduct chemical analysis of routine and non-routine samples, including Routine Water analysis, Gas, and Mercury analysis, including Risk Assessments to optimise microbial control programs.
  • Instigate, direct and control analysis for environmental, hydrocarbon and water samples, including tracking of sample quantities, field ticket generation and minimising duplication of contractor activities.
  • Be familiar with Multiphase Tracer Test (MPTT) equipment, sampling techniques, and operational procedures.
  • At times assist with general duties in the field, such as rigging up equipment, taking readings, and daily reporting.
  • Execute effective and timely sampling in the field and plant.
  • Maintain training competencies and administrative requirements for the Laboratory team
  • Ensure compliance with the clients QHSE procedures at all times.


Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Strong computer literacy skills, particularly laboratory database systems and MS Office programs.
  • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in an oil and gas industry laboratory in sampling and analytical testing of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons or similar instrumental experience.
  • Experience with Hg analysis, NG composition (GC) and Glycol Testing.
  • Experience in pressurized sampling at an oilfield production facility.
  • Experience in operating, optimizing, and maintaining analytical instruments, including gas chromatography, ion chromatography, UV/Vis photometry, and Atomic Absorption spectroscopy instruments.
  • Familiarity with hazard awareness associated with live gas plant sampling stations and offtake valving protocols.
  • Understanding of NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation and experience with LIMS.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised with the skills to plan and monitor laboratory work and laboratory maintenance programs, laboratory validation, and laboratory quality control.
  • Must have current full working rights in Australia and be located in South East QLD.
