Introduction

  • Analyze, interpret, and integrate geologic data to establish and update geologic frameworks and models for oil fields. Undertake geological studies of the reservoirs to optimize field development plans. Conduct reservoir management activities.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams. Develop and mentor less experienced staff.

What are you going to do 

  • As and when required by Company and to support international opportunities, the Snr. Geologist should be responsible for regional geological studies, reservoir geology including analysis and evaluation of reservoir data obtained from well cuttings, well logs, cores, sidewall cores, fluid samples.
  • Estimate reservoir parameters and characteristics needed for reservoir modelling and implementation of development plan for conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
  • Accountable for updated field maps static reservoir models and to provide optimum models for reservoir simulation and reservoir management purposes.
  • Responsible for reviewing all non-operated area daily well reports and all geological data and ensuring best quality data is obtained

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of work experience as Geologist. Must have undertaken field and reservoir studies and worked closely with geophysicists, petrophysicists, and reservoir engineers.
  • Must have carbonate reservoir experience and have applied carbonate sequence stratigraphy and advanced reservoir characterization concepts on previous projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in oil and natural gas development projects in a wide range of sedimentary basins and depositional settings
  • Must have practical hands on geosciences work within the field development function.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management.
  • Must have experience mentoring less experienced geoscientists.
  • Must have experience/knowledge of current computer software for geoscience applications.
  • B.Sc. in Geology is required.
  • Demonstrable experience in well log interpretation leading to successful projects.
  • Exposure and knowledge of reservoir simulation modelling.
  • Experience in applying structural geology concepts and methods to assess compartmentalization / communication due to faulting and fracturing.
  • Experience in core description and sampling for routine and special core analysis
  • Previous project work with geologic modellers to incorporate maps and interpretations into 3D geologic models.
  • M.Sc. or PhD degree.
  • Experience in working with standard production geoscience software:
  • Well Log Correlation: Petrel, R5000, and RMS, and stratworks.
  • Mapping: Petrel, ZMap, and RMS.
  • 3D framework & Modelling: Petrel.
  • Petrophysics: Geoframe, IP, Techlog, a plus.
