Introduction

We're open to either an experienced Team Lead or a strong Senior Application Specialist. The Senior position will have a greater hands-on technical focus, while the Team Lead will combine technical ownership with team leadership, mentoring and workload management.

What are you going to do 

As the Senior / Team Lead - Mining Applications, you'll provide senior technical support and ownership across applications, operational systems and associated data platforms used throughout mining operations.

You'll act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, work directly with operational stakeholders and vendors, and help drive improvements across application performance, reliability and supportability.

For a Team Lead, you'll also provide day-to-day leadership and technical guidance to Application Specialists. For a Senior candidate, the position will remain more hands-on, with a stronger focus on troubleshooting, systems analysis and technical improvement.

  • Provide senior-level technical support across mining and operational applications.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex incidents and application issues.
  • Troubleshoot issues across applications, databases, integrations and operational systems.
  • Use SQL to investigate data, troubleshoot issues and support application performance.
  • Use Python and scripting to support automation, data processing and application improvements.
  • Support reporting and visualisation platforms including Power BI, Tableau and Grafana.
  • Investigate application and data flows from operational source systems through to end-user reporting.
  • Support interfaces between operational technology systems and enterprise applications.
  • Monitor application performance, availability and underlying data processes.
  • Work with vendors to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support application upgrades, changes, integrations and improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with operational stakeholders to understand issues and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Identify recurring technical problems and implement longer-term fixes.
  • Maintain technical documentation and improve knowledge across the support team.
  • Ensure application changes follow appropriate change, security and governance processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other Application Specialists.
  • For Team Lead candidates, coordinate team priorities, workload and technical capability development.

Essential skills and knowledge 

We're looking for a technically strong Senior Application Specialist, Application Support Engineer or Applications Team Lead with experience supporting complex operational environments.

Key Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience in application or systems support.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience across business-critical applications.
  • Hands-on SQL skills for querying and investigating application/data issues.
  • Python or similar scripting experience for automation and data processing.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau or Grafana.
  • Understanding of application integrations, data flows and underlying systems.
  • Experience supporting incidents, upgrades, changes and problem resolution.
  • Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.

Highly Regarded:

  • Mining, resources or heavy industry experience.
  • Experience with MineMarket, AVEVA Production Management (Ampla), CCLAS, GE Proficy Historian or Kepware.
  • Exposure to SCADA, historians and OPC-DA / OPC-UA
  • Exposure to AWS IoT Core, Greengrass or IoT SiteWise.
  • SQL optimisation, database design or ETL experience.
