Introduction

Brunel is seeking an experienced QA/QC Welding Specialist (952) to join our team at the Afungi Site in Mozambique. This opportunity is part of a major LNG construction project, offering a 28/28 rotational contract within the dynamic LNG sector.

What are you going to do 

As a QA/QC Welding Specialist, you will be embedded within the Owner's quality team at the Afungi LNG site. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee all welding and fabrication activities to ensure compliance with international codes, project specifications, and Company standards throughout the construction phase.

You will act as the QA/QC and inspection representative on site, working closely with contractors and subcontractors. Key duties include reviewing and approving welding quality plans, witnessing welder qualification tests, coordinating NDT activities, managing non-conformance reports, and promoting a strong safety culture within a diverse workforce.

This hands-on role demands technical expertise in welding codes and standards, leadership in quality assurance processes, and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Education and Qualifications:

- Engineering degree or equivalent, with post-qualification in QA/QC, welding inspection, or metallurgical discipline.

- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI by AWS, CSWIP 3.1/3.2, or equivalent) preferred.

Experience:

- At least 5 years in welding inspection and QA/QC roles on major construction projects.

- International welding codes and standards: ASME IX, AWS D1.1, ISO 9606, API 1104.

- Proven ability to review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQR).

- Witnessing and validating welder qualification tests.

- Coordination of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods: Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT).

- Expertise in managing welding consumable and material traceability.

Languages:- Fluent English (written and verbal) is essential. Portuguese or French language skills are an advantage.
