Introduction

On behalf of our Client, a Tier 1 Mining Company, Brunel is presently recruiting a Purchasing Officer responsible for the delivery of Procurement for the Customer Group in Purchasing and Expediting of goods and services associated with the business. This will be a casual contract to commence as soon as possible based in the Perth CBD.

What are you going to do 

  • Purchase and expedite materials, parts, supplies, equipment and services following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimise price, delivery and terms
  • Identify cost-competitive and reliable suppliers and issue requests for quotations, leveraging RFQ opportunities and supplied capabilities
  • Analyse (under direction) commercial benefit initiatives in new capital, sustaining capital, maintenance programs and operational spend
  • Ensure all goods and services are ordered and received according to specification, correct costing of materials and that the Customer Group's needs are consistently met in reference to the provision of purchasing services

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Previous experience in purchasing
  • Relevant experience in a similar commercial purchasing/buyer role, ideally within mining and resources
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of materials and inventory management and services buying including commercial and legal terms
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge in purchase to pay and logistics processes and experience in the supply of both goods and services
  • Previous SAP experience
  • Team oriented and ability to adapt quickly
  • Ability to handle multiple and highly complex tasks and activities that contain financial and operational risk
