Introduction

What are you going to do 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to lead process engineering activities for oil & gas projects during Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Engineering, commissioning, and start-up phases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing process design deliverables, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations, supporting project execution, and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide junior process engineers in the preparation of process design deliverables.
  • Develop and review:
  • Heat and Material Balances
  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Process Equipment Design Calculations
  • Hydraulic Calculations and Utility Balances
  • Process Control Philosophies
  • Material Selection Studies
  • Safety and Relief System Design
  • Perform process optimization studies to improve plant efficiency, reliability, operability, and reduce capital and operating costs.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality review of engineering contractor deliverables during FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, owner requirements, and applicable US engineering codes and standards.
  • Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), HazID, Safety Reviews, and other risk assessment workshops.
  • Support commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and performance testing activities for new or modified facilities.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and understand the impact of cross-disciplinary interfaces on project execution.
  • Participate in Construction Readiness Reviews and Desktop Reviews.
  • Support contractor and vendor evaluation, qualification, and selection processes.
  • Contribute to project risk assessment, mitigation planning, and safety management initiatives.
  • Assist with resource planning, team organization, and staffing requirements for process engineering activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university. Minimum 6-10 years of experience as a Process Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry, with proven exposure to FEED and Detailed Engineering projects
Strong expertise in Heat & Material Balance development, Process Design Calculations, Equipment Sizing and Selection, Hydraulic Analysis, Utility System Design, and Safety & Relief System Design. Hands-on experience in HAZOP studies, process safety reviews, and risk assessment activities is mandatory.
Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding and application of US engineering standards, codes, and industry best practices. Experience working with EPC companies, engineering contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams is essential.
Knowledge of CADWorx and E3D platforms, along with prior involvement in detailed engineering execution, is required. Exposure to process optimization, vendor coordination, and engineering deliverable reviews will be advantageous.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Aspen HYSYS process simulation and modeling, exposure to petroleum refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, or upstream facilities, involvement in capital project development, commissioning and start-up support, and experience working with US-based clients or affiliates.
