Introduction

Brunel is supporting a leading mining company in hiring an experienced Project Portfolio Planning / Scheduling Manager to oversee planning activities across a large portfolio of capital projects. This is a senior-level role within the Project Controls team, supporting major industrial and mining projects.

What are you going to do 

  • Lead planning and scheduling activities across multiple capital projects
  • Manage and review project schedules using Primavera P6
  • Ensure schedules follow company standards and project procedures
  • Identify schedule risks and develop mitigation plans
  • Support project execution strategies and overall project delivery
  • Provide schedule analysis, reporting, and performance updates to leadership
  • Mentor and lead a team of planners and schedulers
  • Support hiring and development of planning resources
  • Maintain Primavera P6 systems, data integrity, and reporting structures
  • Work closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, and construction teams

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain baseline schedules and version control
  • Analyze project delays, risks, and scheduling issues
  • Develop solutions to improve project performance
  • Communicate project updates and risks to senior leadership
  • Ensure consistency across portfolio planning processes
  • Support long-term project planning and strategic scheduling initiatives

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Expert knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Experience managing multiple large projects simultaneously
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and make strategic decisions

Preferred Experience

  • Mining or heavy industrial projects
  • Large-scale capital or mega projects
  • Experience with additional scheduling tools such as MS Projects
