What are you going to do 

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Machinist to join a well-established engineering and maintenance team based in Wacol. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale electrical motors and rotating equipment within a safety-focused and high-performing workshop environment.

Working within a skilled workshop team, you will be responsible for the repair, overhaul, machining and testing of traction motors, alternators and associated electro-mechanical equipment.

Key duties include:

  • Repairing and overhauling rotating equipment and electric motors
  • Machining, fitting and assembly work
  • Conducting testing and fault finding activities
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Completing workshop documentation and service reports
  • Maintaining high safety and quality standards

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (Cert III Engineering - Mechanical or similar)
  • Experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing or rotating equipment environments
  • Forklift and crane tickets
  • Experience with electric motors, generators or rotating equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Australian work rights
