Introduction

Inpex, a leading energy operator is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support ops on the Ichthys FPSO, providing technical expertise across process and utility systems.

This Perth-based position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility, resolving emergent issues, and identifying optimisation opportunities. The role includes occasional offshore travel and involves close collaboration with operations, maintenance, and engineering stakeholders.

What are you going to do 

  • Act as the process engineering focal point for the FPSO
  • Provide frontline technical support for operational issues
  • Conduct process surveillance and risk assessments (e.g. HAZOPs, LOPAs)
  • Support shutdown planning, maintenance prioritisation, and procedure reviews
  • Identify opportunities for system optimisation and performance improvement
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Degree qualified in Chemical, Process, or related Engineering discipline
  • Considerable experience in operations support within oil & gas/refining/petrochemicals
  • Proficient in Aspen HYSYS and OSI PI; SAP PM/Meridium APM desirable
  • Deep understanding of FPSO systems, process safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills
