Introduction

What are you going to do 

We are working with our client, a respected organization in the Oil and Gas sector, who is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager (Multi-Discipline) to join our client's team in Chennai. In this key contract role, you will lead and manage complex engineering activities for liquid storage terminals, tank farms, marine jetty, pipeline and EPC infrastructure projects, guiding them from concept engineering through commissioning and project handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Planning & Engineering Management across Civil, Mechanical, Piping, Process, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
  • Manage concept, basic and detailed engineering deliverables and multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Coordinate engineering interfaces with procurement, construction, QA/QC, HSE, planning and commissioning teams.
  • Provide technical leadership for marine jetty, storage tank, pipeline and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Review engineering calculations, specifications, datasheets, material requisitions and vendor documents.
  • Drive value engineering, design optimization and standardization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with API, ASME, ASTM, IS, OISD, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, PESO and applicable international standards.
  • Lead technical bid evaluations, vendor meetings and engineering support during procurement.
  • Manage engineering schedules, budgets, design risks, resource allocation and interdisciplinary interfaces.
  • Support construction engineering, field technical queries, design changes and site engineering.
  • Lead engineering support during FAT, SAT, commissioning, performance testing and project handover.
  • Develop engineering procedures, standards, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Multi-disciplinary engineering management.
  • Storage tanks, marine jetty, pipeline and terminal engineering.
  • Engineering design review and EPC execution.
  • Project management, QA/QC, HSE and risk management.
  • Software: AutoCAD, SmartPlant Tools (preferred), STAAD Pro, Primavera P6/MS Project, SAP, MS Office.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • BE / B. Tech in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical or equivalent engineering discipline. M. Tech / ME / MBA (Project Management) preferred. PMP, Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional certification is advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 12-18 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Tank Terminals, Refineries, Marine Jetty or Pipeline EPC projects with at least 5 years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Extensive experience in brownfield and greenfield terminal infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated capability leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large CAPEX projects.
