Introduction

Seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with experience in the oil and gas industry for a 12 months contract (potential to extend) to work at Docklands Office

What are you going to do 

Brunel Australasia are currently partnering with one of worlds premier petroleum and petrochemical companies. They have a great reputation for creating a safety-focused culture.

The main function are to provide senior technical leadership, guidance and review to support all civil/structural engineering activities including structural asset integrity programs for offshore and onshore assets, greenfield and brownfield projects.

Assist in setting strategic direction for EAPL structural engineering team and all structural engineering activities at EAPL.

  • Assist and advise the EAPL structural integrity program owner and structural engineers in the implementation and design of structural integrity programs
  • Technical review and analysis of in-house and consultant structural engineering work product and fitness for service assessments
  • Technical review and approval of management of change documentation that impacts structures
  • Provide structural engineering input into risk assessments, investigations and Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Perform design reviews, HAZOPs and respond to technical queries for greenfield and brownfield projects
  • Identify and champion opportunities to improve EAPL operating site safety and environmental performance, reliability and operating costs with respect to structures.
  • Provide technical mentoring, training and professional support to junior engineers in all aspects of civil and structural engineering
  • Monitoring of inspection finding trends and anomalies, as well as formal KPIs and highlight key insights and actions to EAPL management
  • Keep asset management informed with any structural engineering issues

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Engineering degree in civil/structural, with chartered status
  • Extensive experience within petrochemical, mining or other heavy industry in structural engineering and asset management roles
  • Familiar with API and AS standards for Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Familiarity with fitness for service assessment and risk based inspection methodology will be an advantage
  • Strong communication, organisation, leadership and business judgment skills
  • Good interpersonal influencing skills
  • Ability to provide mentoring and coaching to less experienced engineers
  • Ability to travel to offshore and onshore sites within regional Victoria if needed
