Introduction

  • Manages the operations on four offshore drilling or workover units rigs including the monitoring and management of drilling contractors and resolving operational problems in cooperation with two subordinate Superintendents; ensure that the drilling or intervention objectives are achieved in a safe and efficient manner.

What are you going to do 

  • Ensures that all drilling operations are conducted safely and efficiently in accordance with the approved drilling program and the Drilling Reference Manual (DRM) to ensure that drilling, workover and intervention operations are planned and programmed correctly and thereafter efficiently executed.
  • Provides advice and support to the Superintendents and when necessary take the lead to manage and solve critical operational problems.
  • This will involve the detailed analysis of operational data and the coordination of input from other colleagues in other departments including: Field Development and Well Integrity.
  • Manages HSE aspects of all offshore drilling and workover rigs by enforcing the requirements of the Drilling Reference Manual (DRM).
  • Lead the accident investigation teams for all high potential onshore rig incidents (including all Lost Time Incidents) and ensure lessons are captured and corrective action is taken across all drilling related operations.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • BSc in Engineering or a relevant science discipline
  • IWCF Certified – Supervisor Level
  • An experienced professional with minimum 25 years’ experience in offshore drilling and workover operations.
  • Minimum 5 years as an Offshore Drilling Supervisor and 5 years as an Offshore Drilling Superintendent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with a major IOC or NOC at a senior level
  • Knowledge of “Process Safety” related to drilling operations.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills with a keen awareness of cultural sensitivities and a passion for managing HSE.
  • Strong communication skills in English (demonstrated verbal and written skills)
  • High energy and enthusiasm for delivering outstanding performance, with a “can do” attitude and proven track record in drilling and workover operations
  • Knowledge of OpenWells and Well Engineering software such as Compass Wellplan and Stress Check
  • Tendering and contracting experience.
  • Ability to coach and support Qatari Development staff.
