What are you going to do 

We are looking for highly motivated students from relevant technical or engineering disciplines who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector. As a Control Room Operator, you will support the remote monitoring and operation of Ørsted's offshore wind farms, supervised from our centralized Control Room in Norddeich, Germany.

This is a 6-month temporary role, ideal for students seeking practical experience in the energy industry. Accommodation will be provided locally.

  • Operate offshore wind turbines via SCADA systems

  • Coordinate short-term maintenance tasks with offshore teams

  • Record and manage system availability in databases (e.g. Phoenix)

  • Monitor alarms and support Control Engineers in daily operations

  • Assist with administrative duties and shift documentation

  • Work closely with Operations and Grid teams to ensure smooth energy delivery

  • Accurate logging of turbine downtimes and operational statuses

  • Timely and reliable execution of turbine start/stop procedures

  • Active collaboration with internal teams and offshore colleagues

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Enrolled students in a relevant technical or engineering degree (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Industrial Engineering, etc.)

  • Strong interest in control room operations or energy systems

  • High personal reliability and readiness to work in shifts

  • Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus

  • Comfortable using IT tools (MS Office, web platforms)

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Willing to relocate to Norddeich for the duration of the role (accommodation is provided)
