Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for a Technical Manager - Pyrometallurgy & Smelting for a long-term contract position with our client, this contractor position will work from home with business trips to New Orleans, Louisiana & Indonesia.

What are you going to do 

Provide technical leadership for a large capital project execution from concept through project delivery with emphasis on pyrometallurgy, smelting, concentrate treatment, and integration of process solutions into executable project scope.

Responsible for development of technical strategy, management of engineering consultants and subject matter experts, evaluation of applicable technologies, and conversion of process studies into clear scopes of work that integrate process, infrastructure, environmental, operational, and commercial requirements into a viable project solution.

The Technical Manager supports project development and works closely with project management, operations, metallurgy, environmental, commercial, and executive leadership to ensure the selected solution achieves business objectives.

The project integrates mining, metallurgy, smelting, environmental, and commercial considerations to support long-term operational performance, regulatory compliance, and value optimization across the value chain.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, Metallurgical, Mining, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 15 years of engineering and project development experience in mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, heavy industrial facilities, or related industries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Mining, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience progressing projects through concept, prefeasibility, feasibility, and engineering execution phases.
  • Experience leading engineering teams on large capital projects.
  • Proven Technical Expertise in the following:
  • Copper concentrators and concentrate handling systems.
  • Smelter process design
  • Hydrometallurgical or pyrometallurgical processing
  • Concentrate treatment or impurity reduction processes.
  • Environmental compliance and emissions control systems
  • Industrial utilities and infrastructure systems
