What are you going to do 

Our client, a leading organization in the Oil and Gas sector based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Senior Instrument Commissioning Engineer to join their permanent team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the commissioning and handover of Instrumentation and Control Systems in accordance with project, company and international standards.
  • Assist in project delivery with co-ordination between internal stakeholders, vendors and third-party contractors.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for instrumentation commissioning within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop and implement detailed commissioning strategies, commissioning test procedures, project schedules for instrumentation systems.
  • Provide technical input into the following:
    1. Project Design considering Commissioning requirements.
    2. Mechanical Completion System including development of Philosophy, Procedures and Test sheets.
    3. Commissioning System and Procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction and operations teams to ensure the smooth handover of projects.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex instrumentation issues during commissioning phases.
  • Oversee the calibration, functional testing, and performance verification of instrumentation systems.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed progress reports, test records, and punch lists.
  • Champion company HSE standards in all commissioning activities, ensuring team, vendor and contractor compliance.
  • Propose opportunities during the engineering design phase that could help improve systems operability, reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • When required, on an ad-hoc basis, sit in for senior personnel such as Lead Commissioning Engineer as required to support ongoing activities.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • HNC/HND or BSc in Instrument Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years' experience in instrument design, installation, hookup, and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of oil & gas standards, codes, and equipment certifications.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning (onshore & offshore).
  • Expertise in DCS, PLC, HMI, and field instrumentation, including programming and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with safety practices (PTW, LOTO, Process Safety Management).
  • Experience as Authorized LV Isolation Authority preferred.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills; able to work in multicultural, remote environments.
  • Proven leadership ability to guide teams and support project delivery safely and on schedule.
  • Knowledge of information security policies and incident reporting responsibilities.
  • Proficient in technical systems, troubleshooting, and software tools.
  • Valid UAE driving license or eligibility to obtain one.
