What are you going to do 

As Senior Design Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design process from early contractor involvement through to project completion. Working closely with project teams, consultants, and clients, this role will ensure design excellence, buildability, and commercial outcomes are achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and coordinating the full design lifecycle across multiple projects across; community, industrial, education and retirement projects
  • Leading consultant teams and ensuring design documentation aligns with project budgets, programs, and construction methodology
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to Design Managers and project teams
  • Reviewing and managing design risk, value engineering, and buildability outcomes
  • Collaborating with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and commercial teams to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Supporting tenders, early works, and ECI phases where required

Essential skills and knowledge 

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager within commercial construction
  • Previous experience on projects > $50million
  • Experience delivering projects across multiple sectors including community, industrial, education and retirement projects
  • Strong technical understanding of design coordination and construction methodology
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
