Introduction

On behalf of our client, a High Profile Global Energy Company, Brunel is presently sourcing a Senior Cost Engineer. You will provide cost engineering and project controls expertise across the project lifecycle. This will be a 12 month contract open to candidates presently residing in Brisbane, located in CBD.

What are you going to do 

You will be responsible for maintaining reliable budgets, forecasts and cost controls while providing timely insights to support project decision-making.

  • Establish and maintain project budgets, cost baselines, WBS/CBS structures, commitments, accruals, VOWD, cash flow and forecasts
  • Prepare and challenge forecasts, estimates at completion and business plan inputs
  • Analyse cost performance and provide reporting, variance analysis and cost insights
  • Identify, quantify and track trends, changes, risks, opportunities and contingency movements
  • Review contractor forecasts, progress claims, variations, invoices and commercial exposure
  • Maintain compliance with project governance, assurance and cost control requirements
  • Support projects through planning, execution, handover and close-out activities
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members and support process improvement initiatives

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification OR equivalent practical experience
  • Extensive experience within the Oil & Gas industry sector
  • Significant experience in Cost Engineering, Cost Control or Project Controls
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, commitments, accruals, VOWD, EAC, cash flow, change control and contract cost management
  • Experience supporting projects through planning, execution and close-out
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • SAP, Power BI and Primavera P6 experience is desirable
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, commercial judgment and attention to detail
