Introduction

Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to work with one of the largest energy companies in the world, who have assets in Oil & Gas, LNG and Renewable energy. This position will ensure all teams and management obtain the services and provide the support needed to achieve affiliate goals related to developing and executing strategies for promoting safety and health across the organization.

What are you going to do 

  • Safety Meeting Coordination: Develop, facilitate, and execute safety meetings on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for both production and non-production support teams.
  • Reporting and Liaison: Report to and directly liaise with site-based OIMS and Safety Supervisor to ensure alignment and compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Incident Coordination and Follow-up: Coordinate incident reporting, action item closure, and follow-ups in IMPACT, ensuring timely resolution and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Safety Training and Coaching: Coordinate and provide coaching for all team members on safety information and understanding, including organizing and supporting weekly and monthly safety meetings as per management controls and reporting systems.
  • Safety Program Support and Development: Support the development and implementation of safety programs, including the Hazard Identification Program, Nobody Gets Hurt O&I, and Behavioral Based Safety Program for Upstream, while also conducting worksite visits, safety assessments, and permit-to-work assessments to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • SSHE-related, operations or maintenance experience or Engineering degree
  • 5 years of SSHE experience in the oil & gas industry
  • International High Threat country experience preferred.
  • Background in Personal Safety & Operations Integrity Management Systems
  • Leadership and/or Supervisor skills and experience
  • Rigorous attention to business controls; CIMS, FIMS and Business Ethics
