Introduction

What are you going to do 

This role plays a critical part in ensuring that our clients operations across Australia and New Zealand meet all State and Federal trade compliance regulations, particularly in the importation, storage, and supply of regulated and controlled products.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry codes governing the importation, storage, labelling, and supply of chemicals (hazardous/dangerous goods), biochemicals, biologicals, radioactives, and other controlled products.

  • Manage import and export permits, end-user statements, and associated documentation, liaising with customs brokers, shipping agents, and regulatory authorities to ensure timely clearance of products.

  • Maintain and update SAP material master data for all regulated products; ensure compliance queues and permits are in place prior to purchasing or release.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory bodies (e.g. TGA, DAFF, Dept. of Health, Customs, Dept. of Defense, DFAT).

  • Monitor and process compliance-related mailboxes, customer notifications, and questionnaires.

  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records for authorities, ensuring licences and permits are renewed ahead of expiry.

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of compliance processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk mitigation.

  • Provide support to customs brokers, supply chain, and internal stakeholders by delivering timely and accurate compliance documentation.

  • Assist in the creation, review, and updating of SOPs and procedures.

  • Contribute to innovation by identifying digital solutions to streamline compliance processes.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Tertiary education in Science (Chemistry/Biologicals advantageous) postgraduate business studies desirable.

  • Experience working with or a strong understanding of regulatory bodies such as TGA and DAFF.

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to influence across departments.

  • Strategic thinker with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions.

  • Demonstrated experience in compliance, trade regulations, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems.
