About this role: Project Engineer

Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking a 2x Project Engineers with background in mining and/or project management. This is a FIFO role based at a gold mine in PNG. The role will be responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines needed to complete the project. As a project engineer you will work to project plans, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure the proper implementation of the project elements. This is a contract opportunity (extension highly likely) with FIFO benefits and offering competitive salary + site allowance – 22 days on/20 days off roster with 12-hour days. Commencement date is as soon as possible.

The role of the Project Engineer is to:

  • Successfully project manage, and co-ordinate a shared resource pool of specialist teams, and personnel, working on multiple projects at various stages of delivery
  • Assists in the planning, co-ordination, monitoring and reporting of individual projects against key performance criteria in line with industry standards and project controls governance framework
  • Display visible Safety Leadership to both their team and the wider business
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in technology and work technique
  • Drives and influences proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership
  • Plans work so that it can be conducted safely; and considers environmental conditions, nearby activities, and the people and other resources needed to complete the work
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for technical professionals, including on-going training and development and performance management
  • Ensure effective on-going training of PNG national staff as per development plans and government agreements
  • Ensures that projects, their designs, execution, plant and equipment adhere to established standards and procedures
  • Develop, test and confirm feasibility of Scope of Works and product proposals
  • Collaborate with Mine Operations and other Technical Services sections to successfully integrate Project Activities into the Mine Plan
  • Deliver work within approved budget managing any variances in accordance with escalation process
  • Identify potential vendors and engage them during the procurement process to derive the greatest possible value for the business
  • Implement and manage a team to ensure compliance within the Project Controls framework

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in an engineering field related to mining and/or project management (essential)
  • Postgraduate qualification in mining and/or project management related field (desirable)
  • IEPNG Engineer Membership (essential)
  • PNG or International Drivers License (essential)
