Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for a Project Cost Engineer for a long-term contract on rotation with our mining client located in Bagdad, Arizona.

What are you going to do 

  • Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems through various methods such as using industry related technical knowledge, designing innovative short cuts, and reviewing engineering alternatives.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and forecasts status against an established baseline schedule. Understands the construction methodology and can identify potential issues and impacts and propose corrective actions.
  • Assess the impact(s) of design or construction changes and associated cost growth and/or schedule slippages. Evaluates proposed process improvements, requests for information (RFIs), and differing site conditions for impacts to the project in terms of cost and/or schedule.
  • Estimates quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to validate project estimates, change orders and scope changes through the review of design drawings, sketches, calculations, or other information supplied by the engineering or construction company.
  • Understands and applies engineering, procurement and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships to the scope of work and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • High School diploma or GED and eleven (11) years' experience in engineering, construction, project controls or business-related field with at least six (6) years of experience in a senior role in project controls OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related fields and seven (7) years' experience in Construction Management, at least four (4) years of experience in a senior role in project controls
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written with fluency in English
  • Ability to multi-task in a high paced project environment
  • MUST be eligible to work for any employer in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Experience in related project management software such as Primavera, Aconex, Ecosys, SAP.

What we offer

Position will be based on a day rate. You will be eligible for Medical, Dental and Vision insurance on your first day of employment. Position includes 410K match up to 3%. Paid for days worked only. All travel and single-status accommodation including flight, housing and car are 100% covered by our client. This role will receive a $750/month stipend to cover meals. Role will be on-site at a mine site. Average workday is 10 hours, Monday thru Friday.
