Introduction

We are currently partnering with a leading mining and processing business to recruit two contract opportunities within their Financial Planning & Analysis team:

  • Principal FP&A
  • FP&A Analyst

These roles will support a high-performing finance function in delivering accurate reporting, budgeting, forecasting and business performance insights across a complex operational environment.

About the roles

Working as part of the FP&A team, you will provide analytical and reporting support across budgeting, forecasting, cost control and month-end processes. You will help ensure timely and accurate financial information is available to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Depending on your level, responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing cost centre spending reports and analysis
  • Monitoring open purchase orders and future cost obligations
  • Tracking GRNI / GRIR and parked invoices to support accurate accruals and reporting
  • Maintaining sales analysis reports and supporting revenue variance analysis
  • Assisting with short-term cash flow forecasting
  • Preparing and maintaining forecast data across production, non-production and overhead cost areas
  • Supporting budget and forecast cycles through consolidation of business unit inputs
  • Coordinating monthly variance reporting and analysis for internal stakeholders
  • Preparing and uploading month-end non-inventory journals
  • Supporting system reconciliations related to cost centres and project codes
  • Assisting with audit queries and maintaining FP&A documentation and checklists
  • Partnering with procurement, accounts payable, operations and finance stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy of data

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline
  • Progress toward CPA or CA qualifications will be viewed favourably
  • At least 3 years' experience in finance, management accounting or FP&A support
  • Experience within a complex operating environment, ideally mining, resources, manufacturing or project-based industries
  • Strong Excel capability and basic financial modelling skills
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, ideally SAP
  • Exposure to planning and reporting tools such as Power BI, Adaptive Planning or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, variance analysis, forecasting and budgeting support
  • Strong attention to detail, commercial acumen and the ability to work across multiple data sources

  • Confidence working with budget holders and internal stakeholders
  • A proactive approach to following up outstanding inputs and resolving issues early
  • Accountability for recurring reporting, journals, trackers and deliverables
  • An interest in analysing cost drivers within an operational environment
