Introduction

Brunel is working with a major oil and gas company, looking to hire a Lab Technician II to support business in Clinton, NJ for a long term assignment with the possibility of extension.

What are you going to do 

  • Running process units at either the lab or pilot plant scale.
  • Operate units simultaneously using Honeywell and/or Labview/Bridgeview process control computing systems; includes hands-on activities at each unit
  • Run programs per detailed instructions from researchers.
  • Monitor unit performance and diagnose/correct any deviations vs. desired program.
  • Become very familiar with all operational parameters and equipment for each unit (pumps, reactors, gas meters, mass flow controllers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, etc.)
  • Perform analytical testing and submit/inventory samples as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance/mechanical work to support high service factor operations

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Strong safety ethic/awareness; identify potential safety issues and propose solutions.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in science with laboratory experience at the college level and strong computer skills
  • High energy level; ability to thrive in an environment with a high degree of multi-tasking required every day
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Work enthusiastically and effectively with researchers, op team members, maintenance personnel, etc.
  • Mentor/train other personnel
  • Communicate effectively and timely both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to make decisions and establish work priorities to complete assignments, often under pressure with tight deadlines, on time with limited supervision
  • Extremely high work standard
  • Ensure quality by meticulously following both standard and job specific procedures.
  • Strict Quality compliance (accurate records, measurements, calibrations, etc.)
  • Physical requirements include handling hydrocarbon/catalyst samples up to 55-gallon drum size, working with variety of hand tools/wrenches, climbing ladders, etc.
  • Ability to work overtime (both extended hours and weekends) as business needs dictate
