Their most significant world-class operation is Ichthys LNG in northern Australia. A modern engineering accomplishment, Ichthys LNG is one of the most technically challenging resources operations on the planet.

The main objectives of the role include:

  • Coordination and implementation of inspection requirements for pressure equipment and tanks during the operation activities of ILNG.
  • Development of inspection strategies and plans for the inspection of static equipment.
  • Support to the Operations, Campaign and Shutdown and if required Project teams on inspection issues.

What are you going to do 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for liaison with Perth Materials Engineers, On and Offsite Contractors and vendors as appropriate to coordinate, provide technical support and execute inspections during BAU, campaign and shutdown activities. Where required, testing and installation of static equipment to ensure delivery in-line with Operations goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for development of optimized inspection philosophies, strategies and plans during the operation of the facilities, to minimize the impact of inspection on plant availability, while ensuring integrity.
  • Responsible for monitoring the inspection reporting process through APM and maintaining quality of this reporting
  • Responsible for coordination and implementation of inspection activities in operations
  • Responsible for preparation and review of inspection reports through APM
  • Responsible inspection input for the RBI assessment process and workshops, as required
  • Responsible for ensuring that Company inspection data management systems and databases are maintained effectively.
  • Responsible for identification and integration of new inspection and NDT technologies for value adding and improving integrity monitoring.
  • Responsible for development of inspection related notifications and monitoring of corrective work orders, where required, to ensure plant integrity is maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring that inspection related preventative and corrective maintenance programs are resourced, scoped and timed effectively to ensure maximum facility uptime.
  • Responsible for identifying and defining inspection related scope of Shutdown, Preventative and Corrective Maintenance activities and for providing assistance for development of work order scope.
  • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring inspection budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring scheduled work in REVs are completed.
  • Responsible for ensuring SAP is up to date with planning and completions.
  • Responsible for the coordination and execution of the dedicated CUI inspection program.
  • Highlight inspection related risks associated with equipment, systems and procedures, and develop mitigation plans accordingly

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Pressure equipment inspection certification (i.e. Senior AICIP or equivalent) and NDT certification (e.g. AINDT or equivalent).
  • Diploma or higher education in materials or mechanical engineering would be considered an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in inspection and NDT of pressure equipment and tanks, including fabrication, construction, commissioning and in-service inspection.
  • Experience spanning offshore oil & gas platforms and FPSO’s, and onshore LNG facilities
  • Working knowledge of relevant International, Australian and industry inspection standards and regulations relating to pressure systems.
  • Proficiency in materials and corrosion considerations for pressure equipment
  • Experience of inspection technologies and NDT techniques, including non-intrusive inspection (NII)
