Introduction

What are you going to do

We are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading offshore engineering, construction, and fabrication organization, for an experienced Construction Quality Dimensional Control Inspector to support major FPSO and offshore oil & gas projects.

This role is responsible for ensuring the dimensional accuracy of fabricated components, structures, modules, piping systems, and assemblies throughout the construction lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Construction, and Quality teams to verify that all fabrication and installation activities comply with project specifications, engineering drawings, international standards, and required dimensional tolerances.

As a key member of the Quality team, you will perform dimensional inspections, monitor alignment and fit-up activities, identify and resolve dimensional deviations, and maintain accurate inspection records to ensure the integrity and quality of FPSO structures and offshore facilities. The role requires strong expertise in dimensional control techniques, measurement technologies, and offshore construction practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional with FPSO, offshore oil & gas, shipbuilding, or large-scale marine construction experience to contribute to complex and high-profile projects within a dynamic project environment.

  • Conduct dimensional control inspections on fabricated components, sub-assemblies, and completed structures to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and project requirements.
  • Verify alignment, fit-up, and positioning of modules, equipment, piping systems, and structural components during fabrication and installation.
  • Record and maintain dimensional inspection reports, measurement records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Identify dimensional deviations and support corrective and preventive actions to resolve non-conformances.
  • Liaise closely with Engineering, Construction, and Quality teams to ensure fabrication activities meet specified dimensional tolerances.
  • Monitor and verify rework activities resulting from dimensional discrepancies.
  • Ensure dimensional control activities comply with applicable international standards, including ASME, API, ISO, and project-specific requirements.
  • Provide regular quality and inspection status updates to the Quality Lead and Construction Quality Manager.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives to maintain the highest standards of accuracy, safety, and workmanship throughout the project.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in dimensional control, laser scanning, total station surveying, or equivalent measurement technologies is highly desirable.
  • Previous FPSO, offshore oil & gas, marine construction, or shipbuilding experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in dimensional control inspection on large-scale fabrication or construction projects.
  • Proficiency in using laser trackers, total stations, 3D scanners, calipers, micrometers, levels, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and dimensional tolerance requirements.
  • Sound understanding of offshore fabrication, structural assembly, and installation processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Good knowledge of HSE requirements and industry best practices within offshore construction environments.
