The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects to support budgeting, planning, bidding, and decision-making processes. This role involves analyzing technical documents, conducting quantity take-offs, and collaborating with various departments to ensure all aspects of project costs are accounted for.
Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine scope and requirements.
Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overheads.
Research and analyze historical data and current market rates to develop accurate cost projections.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain up-to-date pricing information.
Prepare cost reports, proposals, and bid documents as required.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, tenders, and value engineering exercises.
Support the project team by identifying cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.
Monitor actual project costs versus estimated costs and provide variance analysis.
Maintain and update cost databases, templates, and estimation tools.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Accounting, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in cost estimation, quantity surveying, or a similar role.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimation software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift, AutoCAD, etc.).
Experience in [insert industry, e.g., construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, etc.].
Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) or equivalent.
Experience working on large-scale or international projects.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
