Introduction

Brunel is currently searching for a Construction Project Estimator for a long-term contract position with our mining client.

What are you going to do 

The position will be a hybrid role working from home and Phoenix office. This will be supporting the project team on an active construction site and will be responsible for complying with company corporate estimating procedures while developing and review change orders and estimates.

Duties include:

  • Reviewing contractor change orders against the baseline budget and assisting in the overall change management process.
  • Developing internal company change orders as needed.
  • Reviewing and assessing contractor estimates, bids, and proposals for overall completeness and competitiveness against market conditions, while also assuring the contractor has met overall corporate estimating guidelines.
  • Developing Direct, Indirect, Escalation, Contingency, and Owner's Cost elements for estimates.
  • Assisting in the collection of project actuals for incorporation into estimating benchmarking database.
  • Working with Corporate Estimating Manager to ensure all corporate estimating standard operating procedures are adhered to.
  • This position will report to the Project Controls Manager for an active project.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience or 14 years of experience if non-degreed.
  • Familiarity with heavy civil and heavy industrial construction practices and benchmarks.
  • Familiarity with "Blue Book" for reviewing and developing construction equipment rates.
  • Familiarity with estimating software such as Hard Dollar, Cleopatra, RS Means, etc.
  • Strong skillset in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels; management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • MUST be local to the commute to Phoenix office and must be eligible to work for any employer in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.

What we offer

Offer:

  • This position offers up to $700/ flat daily rate as Hybrid - work from home and working out of the Phoenix office. Occasional site visits to the mine site in Bagdad, Arizona.
  • Full-time contractors are eligible to participate in our medical, dental and vision plans that will begin on your first day of employment.
  • Full-time contractors are eligible for benefits. Benefits include medical, dental and vision that will begin on your first day of employment. 401K matching - 50% match, up to 3%.
  • Position includes accrued 3 days of PTO and accrued 5 sick days satisfying Arizona state law. No paid holidays
  • Position will be based on a 5 day work week, average working day is 10 hours.
