Competence Assessor

• Conduct competence assessments for offshore and marine personnel in accordance with the approved Competence Management System (CMS).

• Plan, schedule, and execute competence assessments, including workplace observations, interviews, evidence reviews, and practical demonstrations.

• Evaluate personnel competence against defined standards, job profiles, and regulatory requirements.

• Record, verify, and maintain accurate assessment results, evidence, and reports within the competence management system.

• Identify competence gaps and recommend appropriate training, coaching, or development actions.

• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities related to personnel competence.

• Liaise with operations, training, and management teams to ensure effective implementation of competence assurance processes.

• Ensure assessments are conducted objectively, consistently, and in line with company and industry best practices.

• Participate in continuous improvement of competence frameworks, assessment tools, and processes.

Job Requirements

• Minimum Diploma in Engineering, Marine, Offshore, or a related technical discipline.

• Certified Competence Assessor (e.g. OPITO Assessor, or equivalent recognized assessor qualification).

• Minimum 5 years of relevant offshore, FPSO, marine, or oil & gas operational experience.

• Strong understanding of competence management systems and assurance processes in offshore or marine environments.

• Experience conducting competence assessments for operational, technical, or safety-critical roles.

• Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to personnel competence.

• Good reporting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assessments efficiently.

• Willingness to travel offshore or to project sites as required.
