Introduction

Our client, a tier one mining business, is seeking an Asset Readiness Technical Writer to support major project operational readiness activities. This role will play a key part in ensuring critical asset documentation is developed, reviewed, approved, and ready for handover in line with corporate document management standards.This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing major projects environment.

About this role

Reporting to the Operational Readiness Superintendent - Major Projects, you will work closely with the Operational Readiness Lead, delivery teams, asset owners, and central support functions to coordinate and produce reliability-related documentation for new and existing assets.

You will be responsible for creating, tracking, and managing technical documentation through the review and approval process, ensuring all outputs are accurate, compliant, and aligned with standard templates and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop document checklists using equipment manuals and reliability FMECA outputs
  • Create primary standard work instructions, including replace and repair procedures
  • Track document progress through review, editing, approval, and handover stages
  • Maintain document status records and approval databases
  • Follow established templates, document management processes, and corporate standards
  • Work with the Operational Readiness Lead to confirm document scope, priorities, and schedules
  • Identify documentation gaps and coordinate actions to close them
  • Provide regular progress updates to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Processes & Systems, NPI & Water Management, Engineering, and Reliability teams
  • Facilitate meetings with clear agendas, actions, and outcomes
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders across multiple business levels

Is this you?

You will be a clear and practical communicator with strong technical writing capability and the ability to work confidently with operational, engineering, maintenance, and project stakeholders.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Trade qualification or 5+ years' experience in technical writing, ideally electrical
  • Proven technical writing experience across fixed plant, energy transmission and generation, or heavy mobile equipment
  • Experience producing maintenance, reliability, operational readiness, or asset management documentation
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • Ability to facilitate and present in meetings
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Logical and pragmatic problem-solving ability
  • Experience with reporting and document progress tracking
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work to structured templates and standards
