Introduction

Our client is seeking a field-focused Geologist to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Resource Geologist, you will be responsible for supporting drilling programmes and collecting high-quality geological data to assist resource definition and project development activities. This is primarily a field-based role with a strong focus on logging, sampling, QA/QC and drilling support.

About this role

  • Conduct detailed geological logging of diamond drill core.
  • Identify and record lithology, alteration, mineralisation, veining and geological structures.
  • Maintain accurate geological records and databases.
  • Support geological interpretation and resource development activities.
  • Collect and validate geological, geotechnical, metallurgical and density datasets.
  • Assist with RC logging activities where required.
  • Undertake geological sampling associated with drilling programmes.
  • Ensure sample intervals and geological boundaries are correctly identified and recorded
  • Support the safe and efficient execution of diamond drilling programmes.
  • Liaise with drilling contractors and field personnel.
  • Assist with drill programme coordination and scheduling.
  • Support collection of downhole geophysical and drilling-related data.
  • Assist with resolving geological and operational issues encountered during drilling.
  • Support geological interpretation, data analysis and technical studies.

Is this you?

Essential

  • Degree qualification in Geology, Geoscience or a related discipline.
  • Strong practical experience in diamond core logging.
  • Experience working on diamond drilling programmes.
  • Ability to independently log and interpret diamond drill core.
  • Experience with geological sampling and QA/QC procedures.
  • Background in mining, exploration or resource development environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
  • Current manual driver's licence.
  • Ability to work on a FIFO roster.

Highly Regarded

  • Resource definition drilling experience.
  • Experience working directly with drilling contractors.
  • Geological interpretation experience.
  • Geological database management experience.
  • Mining or operational geology background.
  • RC logging experience.
  • Exposure to geological modelling software such as Leapfrog, Vulcan or Datamine.
  • GIS experience.
  • Experience with downhole geophysics data.
