Introduction

Lead the engineering design and technical assurance of major water infrastructure projects across mining operations. You will guide a multidisciplinary team delivering safe, practical and cost-effective designs for pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds and tanks while ensuring compliance with project requirements, Australian standards and regulatory obligations.

About this role

  • Lead the development and review of water management strategies and plans across the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare project scopes, technical specifications, design reports, technical memoranda and engineering recommendations.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to design engineers, project engineers, consultants and contractors.
  • Undertake and review hydraulic modelling and calculations for pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, tanks and associated water infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review construction drawings, quantity estimates, pipeline schematics, general arrangements, P&IDs and critical equipment selections.
  • Facilitate design reviews, field inspections and stakeholder requirements workshops.
  • Confirm designs comply with the established basis of design and project requirements.
  • Support capital estimating through quantity calculations and material take-offs.
  • Coordinate operational readiness requirements across the project.
  • Monitor engineering schedules and escalate potential schedule risks.
  • Provide construction support by responding to technical queries and updating design documentation.
  • Prepare equipment data sheets and evaluate vendor proposals for technical and budget compliance.
  • Ensure designs comply with statutory regulations, project procedures and accepted engineering practices.
  • Clearly communicate design progress, changes, risks and technical issues to relevant stakeholders

Is this you?

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, with Chemical Engineering or Civil Engineering also considered.
  • Engineering qualification recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in mechanical piping systems and pipeline design.
  • Previous experience within the mining industry or an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding of Australian and commonly applied international engineering standards.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to the mining and water industries.
  • Experience designing or reviewing pipelines and water infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to lead and provide technical guidance within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard of technical documentation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Practical problem-solving capability with the ability to develop innovative engineering solutions.
