Introduction
Lead the engineering and design function for a leading WA mining equipment OEM. Manage multidisciplinary teams, drive product development and innovation, and oversee the delivery of technically robust, manufacturable capital equipment solutions. Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, OEMs and engineering leadership is essential.
About this role
- Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers and drafters across Australia and offshore.
- Manage engineering resources and priorities across multiple concurrent projects and product lines.
- Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight across the design and development of capital equipment and customised plant solutions.
- Ensure designs are technically sound, safe, practical, manufacturable, serviceable and aligned with customer requirements.
- Drive product development, innovation, standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve and maintain engineering systems, procedures, standards and design governance.
- Oversee design reviews, verification, validation, engineering change control and quality processes.
- Work closely with manufacturing and project teams to ensure designs can be efficiently delivered from concept through to production and commissioning.
- Support technical discussions with clients and contribute to the development of practical engineering solutions.
- Promote effective communication and collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, procurement, projects, operations and aftermarket teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, product quality and delivery performance.
- Balance hands-on technical involvement with the strategic leadership and development of the engineering function.
Is this you?
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, technical design and engineering leadership.
- Experience within an OEM, engineered capital equipment, mining equipment, bulk materials handling or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design, engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
- Experience delivering new products, capital equipment or customised engineering solutions.
- A practical understanding of design for manufacture, assembly, installation, maintenance and serviceability.
- Experience developing or improving engineering systems, processes, standards and governance.
- The ability to confidently engage with customers and provide technical input during solution-development discussions.
- A collaborative leadership style with the confidence to make decisions and challenge existing practices when required.
- Current Australian working rights.
