Introduction

Our client is seeking a Specialist Geologist to join their team. Reporting to the Resource Development leadership team, you will be responsibile for planning, managing and overseeing drilling and geoloigical field programmes that support resource growth and project development.


About this role

  • Designing, planning and overseeing drilling programmes to support resource definition and project objectives
  • Managing the collection, validation and interpretation of geological, geophysical and exploration datasets
  • Maintaining high standards of geological logging, sampling and QA/QC processes
  • Contributing to geological interpretation, exploration targeting and resource evaluation activities
  • Supporting geological modelling, GIS mapping and technical analysis activities
  • Coordinating field programmes and monitoring progress against technical objectives and schedules
  • Managing drilling contractors and field service providers to ensure safe and effective programme delivery
  • Supporting resource development, technical studies and project evaluation activities
  • Integrating geological, geophysical and drilling datasets to improve geological understanding
  • Participating in technical reviews, drill planning workshops and project discussions
  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to developing geologists
  • Promoting safety leadership and best-practice field processes across all activities

Is this you?

Essential

  • Degree qualification in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline
  • Significant experience within exploration, resource development and/or mine geology environments
  • Demonstrated experience planning and managing drilling programmes
  • Strong geological interpretation and exploration targeting experience
  • Strong understanding of geological data collection, sampling methodologies and QA/QC procedures
  • Experience working with geological databases and data management systems
  • Proven contractor management and field programme coordination experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A strong commitment to safety and field leadership
  • Current driver's licence and the ability to work in a FIFO environment

  • Resource definition drilling programmes
  • Geological modelling software such as Leapfrog
  • GIS platforms including ArcGIS Pro
  • Downhole geophysics and drilling data analysis
  • Resource evaluation and resource development activities
  • Large-scale copper, gold or base metals projects
  • Mentoring, coaching or leadership experience within geology teams
