About this role

Opportunity to join a data and AI team delivering machine learning and advanced analytics solutions across a large mining environment. This role focuses on building production-ready AI solutions and translating complex data into practical business insights.

Focus:

  • Develop, deploy and support AI, machine learning and advanced analytics solutions
  • Ensure solutions are sustainable, supportable and well documented
  • Use best-practice source control, modelling and MLOps approaches (e.g. Git, MLflow)
  • Monitor and improve Azure-based analytics platforms
  • Work iteratively with business stakeholders to validate and communicate insights
  • Present complex analytical outcomes in clear, business-friendly language
  • Contribute to growing AI adoption across the business
  • Stay current with emerging analytics and AI technologies and recommend improvements

Is this you?

  • Extensive experience in a data science-related role
  • Experience in the mining industry working with mining datasets (fleet management, historians, SAP, delay accounting)
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Strong experience with Python (or similar), statistical modelling and modern machine learning techniques
  • Proven experience with Azure-based data and analytics platforms
  • Experience with data lakes, SQL, Spark, ML frameworks, and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Experience with enterprise-scale AI and large language models

Desirable but not essential:

  • Postgraduate qualification in a quantitative or mining-related field
  • Experience with Databricks, MLOps/DevOps pipelines and deep learning frameworks
  • Experience with NLP and advanced AI use cases
  • Participation in data science competitions or hackathons (e.g. Unearthed, Kaggle)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and storytelling capability
